Buggiba

Bugibba is found along the coast of Malta and is a town located in St. Paul’s Bay.  It is surrounded by two other small towns within the bay: St. Paul’s Bay and Qawra.

The effect of tourism on Malta is best seen in Bugibba where the historical housing has been torn down and replaced with many modern apartments and hotels.  The restaurants are not the best on the island but are sufficient to meet holiday needs, there are not many older attractions as the entire nature of the town is simply been removed for tourist accommodation and facilities.

Since most holiday visitors arrive on a package deal, booking agents will provide transfers to the city or national airport.  However, for those travelling with independent plans the easiest way to Bugibba is via the bus system out of the main terminal in Valletta.

In the town of Bugibba the easiest way to travel is on foot, given that the area of the town is small and it is hard to get lost since the coast is always running parallel to the town as a marker.  A great way to explore the nearby towns is by taking the promenade that connects Qawra to the Bay, which is found in the centre of Buggibba.

While in Buggibba the Megalithic Temple is well worth a stop as it is the largest temple still in existence on Malta and has a hotel and casino built around it.  Thus, you can experience a bit of ancient culture and modern nightlife in one place.

Also worth a visit while in Buggibba are the harbour and the nearby northern beach of Mellieha.  From the beach you can also quickly take the ferry to visit the neighbouring islands of Gozo and Comino, and plan a visit to the Red Fort where quieter beaches are found.
