Kappara
Kappara is a residential area of Malta that is framed by the main highway of the island, also known as Regional Road, and the university. Most of the homes found in Kappara are houses which have little appeal for tourists, even though the area is considered to be a holiday complex.
Even though Kappara is a holiday location there is not much to do within the actual city borders of the town, although there are many options for those who are willing to travel a bit outside of the city for amenities. The reason why most people stay in Kappara is because a top notch resort is less costly than in a more developed town such as St. Julian’s or Sliema.
Kappara is found on raised steep ground near the eastern edge of the island. It is about seven minutes from St. Julian’s and approximately ten minutes from Valletta. For this reason most travellers to Kappara arrive at the airport and then transfer to the Valletta bus terminal where they take a bus into the town of Kappara.
Due to the fact that the Malta University and several small schools are located in Kappara it is a smaller quiet town where the focus is on education and family life. There are no shopping areas or bars within the town but there are general stores about .25km across Regional Road and there are high end stores down the road about one km in Gzira.
Outside of the main holiday complex of Kappara there is not any entertainment such as a cinema or restaurants, although there are a few eateries also across Regional Road.
The area of Kappara does not have any beaches due to the steep incline of the coastal city, although there is swimming about one kilometre away at St. Julian’s Bay.
