Malta is a small but self ruling Island State located in the Mediterranean which has become an incredibly popular destination for huge numbers of visitors, especially those from Italy, Germany, and the UK.

This makes Malta an ideal year-round destination with warm, but not overly hot summers, and pleasant relatively mild winters.
As Malta is a real, living island and not just a holiday resort, life goes on throughout the year with many cultural events, festivals and activities to enjoyed each month. Restaurants and nightlife tend to be open year round, with only the open-air nightclubs closing down for the winter.
Malta is also an idyllic destination for many kinds of sports, such as mountain biking, walking and hiking, windsurfing and paragliding, as well as yachting and diving, all the equipment required for these and other sporting activities can be rented on-site so there is no need to bring in your own equipment.
For those who truly want to get away from it all a quick trip to the neighbouring Maltese island of Gozo may be just what you are looking for. The island is basically the same as it has been for generations, it is very likely that a time traveller from the Crusades would recognise this little treasure as being practically undisturbed in nearly 1000 years.
